Captain Marvel Wiki

Carol Danvers is an ace Air Force pilot and one of the most powerful heroes in the universe. She has the ability to project a field of energy that can protect or destroy anything that comes within range. In addition to her incredible powers, she possesses a highly trained sense of self-preservation and can withstand immense amounts of physical trauma.

Originally a male superhero in mainstream continuity, Marvel switched to a female character with the introduction of the blue-skinned Captain Marvel (Marvel Comics) in 2012. In her new role, she left behind her one-piece swimsuit and thigh boots for a more feminine look and design that was well received by cosplayers.

As a result, this version of the character became the most popular choice for fans to dress up as at conventions and in fan films. This led to the creation of a separate female-led MCU franchise called Captain Marvel that debuted in 2017 with Brie Larson playing Danvers and Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck as directors.

The film takes place in the 1990s and depicts a young Carol as she attempts to break her late mentor Helen Cobb’s previous flight record. During her test, she encounters engine failure and loses consciousness. Upon awakening, she finds her brain has been implanted with Nega Bands that give her amazing powers.

Initially, Carol is reluctant to accept the mantle of Captain Marvel, which her friend and fellow pilot Maria Rambeau encourages her to take up. But when a dormant Kree Sentry robot activates and goes berserk, she finds herself in the middle of a battle with her personal alien enemy Yon-Rogg. The two develop a romantic relationship, but when Yon-Rogg attempts to use forbidden Kree technology against his own people, Carol overpowers him and sends him back to Hala with a message for Supreme Intelligence.
