With the pandemic causing people to stay home and work from home, video conference software has become more popular than ever. This has led to the release of many different virtual backgrounds you can use to make your calls more interesting. Comics fans have been especially pleased with recent releases from Marvel, which have added a lot of character options to Zoom and other video-conferencing apps.
You can use these virtual backgrounds to pretend you are meeting with your colleagues from exotic locations in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or even just the world of Star Wars. This background from Hoth lets you take your meetings with a tauntaun (just be careful not to drop it). Or you can make your call look like you’re talking to a Stormtrooper in the Death Star or at the Rebel Base.
But the real fun comes from Marvel’s Comics Universe backgrounds. There are a bunch of them, including this one that shows Captain America getting assaulted by fascistic drones at his headquarters. It’s perfect for the current political climate, and a good reminder that superheroes aren’t all that different from us.
There are also lots of Disney and Pixar backdrops to choose from, so you can sit in Carl and Ellie’s living room during your calls or visit Coco’s Land of the Dead. And if you have kids in school, they can take their calls with Kim Possible or Bunk’d to remind them of the summer camps they miss while stuck inside their classrooms. To set a background, sign into your Zoom account and click the gear icon for Settings, then select Virtual Background. Follow the instructions to download a photo and set it as your new background.
