At the time of writing, Marvel is preparing for the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and has already started marketing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which is scheduled for a May 5, 2023, release. It makes sense, then, that Marvel is waiting a bit longer to start promoting The Marvels, and it fits with what the studio has been doing with the trailers of some of Phase 4โs biggest releases, most notably with Thor: Love & Thunder. Thorโs fourth solo adventure was released on July 8, 2022, but the first trailer didnโt arrive until mid-April, less than three months before the movieโs release. The Marvels is scheduled for a July 28, 2023, release, so the first trailer will likely be released in April.
Not only does this fit Marvelโs current marketing plan but it also gives The Marvels more chances to catch the audience’s attention as it avoids saturating them with Marvel content. Ant-Man the Wasp: Quantumania would have already been released by then, and marketing for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will continue, but as the Guardiansโ new adventure arrives in May, releasing The Marvelsโ first trailer in April will allow Marvel to play it in front of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in theaters, as well as a few other blockbusters, giving it more exposure.
