The most powerful superhero in the Marvel universe, Captain Marvel’s abilities are jaw-dropping. She can fly, shoot photon blasts, and has godly strength and speed. However, like any other hero, she has some weaknesses that make her more relatable to readers and moviegoers.
In 2012, Carol Danvers was introduced as the new Captain Marvel. She was an aeronautics engineer who worked for the USAF and CIA and had a strong love of aviation. After a conflict between the Kree and Skrull, she was knocked into a Kree device called the Psyche-Magnitron. This altered her DNA, making her half-Kree and granting her superhuman powers similar to Mar-Vell’s.
After she gained her powers, Carol teamed up with the Skrull General Yon-Rogg and was taken to the planet Monexus in an attempt to stop a nuclear attack on Earth. The explosion destroyed the device, but it also altered her mind. This caused her to lose all memory of her human life, and she became completely dedicated to the protection of the Earth and its people.
This dedication to humanity makes her a true hero. However, it has also made her prone to brainwashing and other psychological attacks. Various villains have used this to manipulate her into fighting against her allies and her own friends.
While it is rare for her to get hurt, she can be easily defeated by someone with more power or skill than her. She is particularly vulnerable to magic and mystic arts, and has a tendency to become one-sided when she is emotionally invested in a fight.
