The Marvel Comics universe is filled with a host of different heroes. But two of the biggest names are Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) and Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan).
Captain Marvel was first introduced in Fawcett Comics’ “Captain Marvel” storyline, published by the company during the 1970s. The character originally started as Mar-Vell, a Kree warrior who was exposed to a space stone and was transformed into Captain Marvel. But a lawsuit against Fawcett forced the company to shut down, and Marvel capitalized by trademarking the name.
Kamala Khan, meanwhile, is the new Muslim hero in the MCU. She’s already appeared in Marvel’s latest film, Avengers: Endgame and will star in 2022’s “The Marvels” opposite Brie Larson as Carol Danvers and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau.
She also has her own comic series, debuting in February 2014. But does Ms. Marvel have any powers that make her a superhero in her own right?
It’s hard to know which is more powerful between the two, but both have their own unique abilities. For starters, Captain Marvel’s most popular weapon is the Nega-Band, a relic from the Kree empire that allows her to convert mental energy into physical energy and withstand many different attacks.
In the MCU, however, Captain Marvel’s best chance at winning a fight would be in hand-to-hand combat and damage absorption. And even though Ms. Marvel has a lot of enthusiasm, she’s not as experienced in combat as her counterpart.
