During the battle for Earth, Captain Marvel absorbed the energies of the Tesseract and became one of the most powerful heroes in the universe. But what exactly does that power entail? The MCU films have only scratched the surface of what Carol Danvers (and her other incarnations as Binary, Warbird, and Vers) can do. So we’ve rounded up some of her key qualities:
Superhuman Strength
Both Mar-Vell and the hero who took on his name, Carol Danvers, have superhuman strength thanks to their hybrid organisms. Her strength levels have increased over the years, reaching Binary-levels in recent times. Her augmented physique also grants her superhuman durability, allowing her to take bombs, blows from stronger opponents, and falls from great heights without significant injury.
Absorption of Energy
Both the real-life Carol Danvers and her comic book incarnations have the ability to enhance their physical strength by absorbing various types of energy. Her body can absorb and manipulate electromagnetic, sound, chemical, and gravitational energy. But despite the versatility of her powers, they do have their limits: Captain Marvel is completely incapable of absorbing magical energy, which renders her powerless against magic-powered opponents.
As a pilot, Carol Danvers has a unique skill set that makes her an unstoppable fighter in the air. She can fly at speeds that are multiple times faster than the speed of sound, with an advanced understanding of flight mechanics and combat tactics. She has jaw-dropping stamina, too, as she was able to fight the shapeshifting Skrulls for a full day without taking a break. Even better, she can survive a direct hit from a Hulk Buster – an Iron Man armor designed to take down the green rage monster.
