A COMIC BOOK writer is delighted to see one of his characters appear on the big screen in the new film captain marvel keller. Alan Cowsill created the character of Agent Keller, played by Samuel L Jackson, for a comic book series published by Marvel’s UK office in the 1990s. The film is the latest chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and tells the story of Captain Marvel, a human who acquires cosmic powers and becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth gets caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.
During her first battle with the Kree, Danvers is shot down by a light-speed engine that crashes into the ocean and absorbs the energy of both the pilot and the facility. The Supreme Intelligence orders Yon-Rogg to turn her into an operative for the Kree, who can help them win the war against the Skrulls.
As she escapes in a SHIELD jet with Lawson’s stowaway cat Goose, Vers finds records in the crashed facility that reveal a different history than she was told, including the fact that Lawson was actually a Kree (she figured this out from the handwriting on her notes). She then calls Fury who, believing it is Keller, asks her to come to his office to perform an autopsy on the body of a fallen Skrull, who turns out to be Talos in disguise.
Talos takes over Keller’s appearance and assumes his role as Director of SHIELD, even telling Beers to call him only “Fury” – although it is unclear whether Keller really ever did use that name. He also knows how to handle the SIG Sauer P226 pistol that is used by most S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and, given that he is able to peek into Keller’s short-term memory, it is likely he did carry the gun in his normal life as well.
