Originally known as Vers, Carol Danvers becomes the powerful Kree hero Captain Marvel when Earth is caught in the middle of a war between alien races. In her first appearance, she’s on the alien planet Hala, where she’s part of an elite Kree task force with Jude Law (commanding, charismatic and filthy hot), Lashana Lynch (all blue and snarky like a grumpy Smurf) and Djimon Hounson (reprising his role from Guardians of the Galaxy).

It’s a good thing that the women of this team are so rad, because the dudes in this movie look like complete assholes. But that doesn’t mean that Captain Marvel isn’t worth seeing. It’s the best female-led superhero movie we’ve had in a long time, and it’s a must-see for any fan of comic book movies, movies about strong women, or just movies that are fun to watch.
