Captain Marvel By: Kevlar Winnick – Book Review

Captain Marvel written by Stan Lee and illustrated by Bill Finger is a super hero story that has a lot of twists and turns that really gets me all excited about comic books. This story takes place sometime after the events of the first Amazing Spider-Man, where Peter Parker has just gained spider powers, and becomes the new Green Spider-Man. He has also become the mentor of young Peter Parker who is still going through a lot of trial and error trying to perfect his craft as the masked vigilante.

When I think about this latest version of the character, I get excited because it’s another adventure in the web-series, where he has to deal with a villain known as Scorpio. Also in the book, we have Electro, another evil magician that makes Electroglass (another Spidey villain) angry with his desire for world domination. The villains fight for supremacy for several episodes, but the story ultimately ends with Peter Parker getting his powers back under control. It seems that the writers wanted to make this a part 4 of the series, which could be a hint that they are planning more of the character, maybe even a spinoff. After all, there’s one Spider-Man movie left to go! Couldn’t hurt to keep the fan-base happy.

In my honest opinion, I think that this is a fantastic story that doesn’t just tell us what we already know, but it gives us some more of the mythology of Spider-Man and Electroglass. It will always be interesting to learn about the history between these two, and also how Electro Glass became so angry. All in all, I’m very happy with this newest installment in the Spider-Man franchise. It’s a well-written story, drawn beautifully by Stan Lee and William Messner, and has some great characters, too.
