Captain Marvel and the Avengers

One of the most enjoyable Marvel series to date, Captain Marvel and the Galaxy Soldiers is a fun-filled adventure written by David Lebovitz and drawn by Michael Deitch. The story kicks off with a mysterious stranger appearing on Earth and telling everyone that he has a mysterious gift, a gem called Nova Power. With the gem, he intends to remake the universe by making Earth vulnerable for another race. With the assistance of some unlikely heroes, the Fantastic Four join the Galactica in battle and the mystery villain is defeated. In order to thank their teammates, the members of the team get together to celebrate… A fun and colorful comic book crossover that features the characters from both the Marvel comics and the popular animated film.

Following the end of the book, the series was cancelled after two seasons but it was brought back again for a special two-part tie-in event with the release of the third Captain Marvel movie. Unlike the book, the film featured a variety of guest stars such as Ennis O’Rourke as Cyclops, Ian McShane as Rocket Raccoon, Dexter Elfman as Kang the Conqueror, and Sung Hui Cho as Medusa. The movie, which went on to become very successful, featured an upgraded costume for Carol Danvers as Storm, Kelsey Grammer as Wolverine, Jennifer Garner as Thor, Anthony Michael Hall as Dr Doom, renegotiated contracts for Spider-Man, and more. It also introduced the super powered versions of the villains we’ve come to know and love such as Shatter, Electro, Rhino, and Sandman.

In this latest book, we are introduced to Storm’s past and what led her to joining the Avengers. This book maintains the spirit of the book’s predecessor, The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, which is why many longtime readers are looking forward to this newest volume. It also introduces a few new exciting characters such as Binaryity, whom Storm desperately wants to recruit but does not want to put up with his suspicious nature. Also, we meet another member of the Avengers, Black Widow, who is also searching for someone whom she feels possesses incredible potential, as well as Squirrel Girl and Beast. This book is entertaining and fun to read, and it doesn’t disappoint its fans, whether you loved the previous A-Men books or the new one.
