MONICA RAMBEAU: PHOTON
The new Captain Marvel movie is a big deal, and it’s great to see Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris as Carol Danvers and Monica Rambeau in their roles. However, the film does seem to stray away from the continuity of the MCU timeline for some moments.
During an investigation of a Universal Neural Teleportation Network, Rambeau’s light-based powers became entangled with those of teenage superhero Kamala Khan and adult hero Carol Danvers, who also wielded the Quantum Bands. This caused the three women to constantly switch places whenever they used their powers at the same time.
When the Marvels landed on a deserted planet, Rambeau was unable to use her powers to communicate with Danvers due to their switched locations. She did, however, manage to teleport herself and the team to an Accuser Warship in order to fight Kree soldiers. During the battle, Rambeau absorbed energy from both Ms. Marvel and Danvers in order to restore the rift that Kree Accuser Dar-Benn had spitefully torn into another reality.
During the fight, Rambeau was able to take a bullet to the chest with her shield and dodge a Kree staff that was thrown at her by using her ability to become intangible. She then backed herself into a wall and powered up her fist, punching it through the rift to close it. Afterwards, Rambeau was able to fly again thanks to the power she absorbed from both Khan and Danvers. She was also able to turn herself into any form of energy on the electromagnetic spectrum, including visible light, radio waves, electricity, X-rays, microwaves, ultraviolet radiation, infrared radiation and gamma radiation.
