Captain Marvel is a comic book character created by writer Stan Lee and artist Gene Colan for Marvel Comics. The first Captain Marvel appeared in Marvel Super-Heroes #12 (December 1967).
The Marvel Universe has seen several iterations of the title character. The most notable of those is the Kree warrior Mar-Vell, who occupied the title from 1967 through 1982.
There have also been a number of female heroes who have worn the name, including Monica Rambeau. She was introduced as Captain Marvel in The Amazing Spider-Man Annual #16 and would go by that moniker until the mid-1990s, when she changed it to Photon or Pulsar.
Another Captain Marvel is Genis-Vell, who first appeared in Silver Surfer Annual #6 (1993). He’s the genetically engineered son of the late Mar-Vell. He possesses Cosmic Awareness and wears Nega-Bands. He also bonds with teenage singer Rick Jones.
One of the more recent iterations of Captain Marvel is the character Carol Danvers, who appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and was portrayed by actress Brie Larson. She is not the first female Captain Marvel, but is the only one to appear in the MCU.
Captain Marvel has also been a popular character in video games and other media, including animated television series and licensed merchandise such as trading cards. He was featured in several films as well, most notably Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame (2019).
Captain Marvel was a superhero who gained his power by rubbing a magic belt buckle with a thunder symbol on it and saying “Thunder”. His powers came from Tornado (power), Hare (speed), Uncas (bravery), Nature (wisdom), Diamond (toughness), Eagle (flight), and Ram (tenacity). He was one of the most popular characters of all time.
